Mees is a tall, hand-thrown stoneware tube-vase with a clean, slightly tapered cylinder that opens to a modest mouth. His surface is finished in a pale, volcanic lava glaze: matte-satin off-white with dense, cratered texture and fine pinholes that expose warm, sandy clay beneath. The glaze thins subtly toward the foot, revealing a neat unglazed foot and concentric throwing marks. On the inside a mat black glaze, making Mees very nice with or without flowers.

I’m not overly concerned with traditional perfection.
I strive to create useful and beautiful pieces. Even without flowers, brushes, or branches, my vases can stand alone as beautiful objects. They are tough—but please, don’t throw them at people. All of my shapes and glazes are homebrewed, made right here in what I call Mokum.
